Algarve Resorts - Ferragudo

Ferragudo is virtually next door to Portimao, and just a short drive, or bus trip, to Carvoeiro. Ferragudo pretty little town, with whitewashed houses running down to the sea. Much quieter than Portimao, it has an interesting fort, called the Fort of Sao de Joao de Arade, which can be traced back to the 14th century. This has been converted into a private residence, and overlooks the town and the River Arade. The town is a friendly, and contains some of the best fish restaurants in The Algarve.
There are several beaches available, the best being the Praia Grande.
This is a very nice centre for a lovely holiday, without the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts, but with the facilities close by when needed.
