Algarve Resorts - Praia da Luz
Monday, 16th November 2009
Praia da Luz is four miles away from Lagos, further west. Another resort that was once a fishing village, Praia da Luz has a number of hotels, apartments and holiday complexes, as well as a large number of apartments and houses for expatriates who have made Praia da Luz their home .The name literally means “village of light”.
The resort is very quiet, and is particularly suitable for families. The main beach is very wide and long, in almost a crescent shape. The beach has blue flag accreditation, and has a wide range of watersports available. Development of Praia da Luz resort has been controlled, so there are no high rise buildings. Most of the buildings are painted white, giving the resort a lovely appearance.
There are plenty of places to eat, with a good selection of bars and restaurants. Golf courses are also a short drive away. There are numerous bus day trips to neighbouring resorts for those who wish to explore the area.
Nearby attractions include the Costa Vincentina National Park, with some of the best surfing in Europe.
Praia de Luz is perfect for a quiet family holiday.
