Loule is a prosperous market town, 11 miles North West from Faro, with a population of over 20,000. The town is the centre of handicraft manufacture in The Algarve, with many workshops making all sorts of souvenirs from leather, cane, wood and copper.
Many locals and tourists come to Loule on the 1st Saurday of each month, to buy at the large handicraft market. In addition, there is a very lively weekly market. The markets can get very busy, so make sure you come early.
The main events in the town are the Carnival celebrations in February, said to be the best in Portugal, and the May Fair clebrations.
