Monchique is an inland town, about 50 miles from Faro, and 20 miles from Alvor. The town is surrounded by heavily forested hills, and has a cooler climate than the beach resorts.
It is green and blissfully quiet. Walkers delight in wandering around the hills and forests. For a restful, invigorating trip, Monchique should not be missed
