Ria Formosa Nature Park is a large and unspoiled nature reserve, close to Faro and Olhao. It is home to many thousands of migratory birds, who spend their winters here. A bird watchers paradise, more than one hundred species of bird can be seen. Pink Flamingos are a particular attraction.
The Ria Formosa is a valuable area of wetlands, and as such is highly protected. The reserve has beautiful lagoons, sand dunes, canals and salt marshes. The area is quite lovely, peaceful and refreshing.
