Lisbon, the Capital of Portugal, is easily accessible from all parts of the Algarve. With the new motorway system, Lisbon can be reached little more than two to three hours by car. There is a fast train from Faro, which tales a little over 3 hours. Make sure you choose the fast train, as the slower trains can take 4 hours or more. Fares are relatively cheap, with a return to Lisbon no more than £46 per person.
A day trip to Lisbon is very easy. You could travel at a more leisurely pace, and stay in Lisbon for one or two days, if you wish.
