Where to eat in The Algarve
Monday, 16th November 2009
Visitors will be overwhelmed by the choice of food available.
Every resort will have its specialities, but visitors will find Portuguese, French, British, Chinese, Thai, Indian, German, Italian, International, Vegetarian and fast food outlets.
Visitors must sample Portuguese cuisine, which has its own personality. As you would imagine, fish features heavily in Portuguese food, from grilled sardines to caldeirada, a tasty fish stew. Grilled meats are popular, often just served with a salad. For vegetarians, a favourite is a bean stew called feijoada. Other popular Portuguese dishes include bacalhau, dried and salted cod, cozido a Portuguesa, a stew of vegetables and meat, usually pork.
Visitors will find it very difficult to go hungry in The Algarve.
